Clos Apalta sits in the Apalta Valley of Colchagua and produces some of the most awarded wines in South America. Multiple vintages of its flagship Carmenère-led blend have earned a perfect 100 points from James Suckling, and the 2005 was named Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year, the first South American wine to take that title.

The winery itself is part of the draw. Its curved wooden exterior is built to resemble a wine barrel, and the gravity-flow design runs seven stories down into the hillside, with cellars reaching 25 metres below ground and a spiral staircase at its center. Between the architecture and the vineyard setting, it tends to leave a strong impression on first-time visitors.

On this private tour, you’ll go inside the estate for an in-depth winery visit and tasting, followed by a seasonal gourmet pairing lunch at the Clos Apalta Residence, the property’s Relais & Châteaux hotel above the vineyards.
